FMCW Radar Level Transmitter RD

FMCW Radar Level Transmitter RD

Radar technology provides powerful non-contact level control where it is most needed. These advanced level measurement gauges are immune to dust, vacuum, humidity, foam, and variations in pressure, dielectric and temperature. Hycontrol’s 24 GHz and 80 GHz radar products offer a wide range of solutions for almost every requirement. Models are available for solids measurement and liquid level control.

For demanding applications with powders in very dusty atmospheres, the RD Series two-wire 80 GHz FMCW radar level transmitter is an ideal choice. With its small beam angle, this radar indicator is particularly suited for continuous, non-contact level measurement in high and narrow silos, hoppers or buffer storage containers up to 100 m/328 ft. Due to the high signal dynamics of the FMCW radar, the level transmitter is ideal for low-reflective media, dust, uneven surfaces or complex silo internal structures. As it features a flush-mounted PEEK Lens antenna, there is no intrusion of the antenna into the silo, bin or hopper. It is ideal for dusty products such as cement, fly ash or GGBS.

This device is ideally suited for level measurement in or on high and narrow silos with internal obstructions, buffer silos, bulk storage containers, and hoppers. The level transmitter can measure the level of a wide range of solid products on a large variety of installations within the stated pressure and temperature range. It does not require any calibration: it is only necessary to do a short configuration procedure. The RD radar is also configured to provide mass (volume) measurements, calculating (by linear interpolation) volume or mass between strapping table entries.

The RD Series provides accurate and reliable readings in process conditions with temperatures up to +150°C/302°F and pressures up to 40 bar/580 psi. It offers flange or thread connections as well as an optional 112 mm/4.4" antenna extension for the DN40/1.5" antenna. Approvals for use in hazardous areas are also available. The level transmitter comes with HART®7 communication. 80 GHz is the new high standard for level measurement in industry and provides operators with high-fidelity results for the most challenging applications.
