TDR Level Transmitter VF05

TDR Level Transmitter VF05

TDR is sometimes called ‘radar on a rope’ or guided wave radar; its contact-based measurement principle makes it ideal for reliable product monitoring. A probe or cable is lowered into the vessel from the top and continuously measures the level of product as it makes contact along its length. This level measurement technology is immune to dust, vacuum, humidity, foam, and variations in pressure, dielectric and temperature. Hycontrol’s VF Series TDR family offers a wide range of gauges and level indicators to meet almost every requirement.

Hycontrol's new Reflex VF05 TDR measuring probe measures liquids and solids up to a maximum range of 24m with an accuracy of +/- 5 mm, making it an ideal choice for a wide variety of applications. The unit is unaffected by pressure, temperature, viscosity, vacuum, foam, dust, coating or changes in dielectric constant, and offers a selection of durable and highly reliable probes.

A notable feature of the new VF05 TDR unit is the VGF-DISPLAY removable programming unit, which connects to the top of the instrument head and allows programming via touch buttons and an LCD screen. The detachable unit allows for fast programming and simple commissioning, with the display unit able to be removed for safe-keeping afterwards.

The TDR principle of operation is a simple one: pulses of low power microwaves travel along conductors. It then reflects when the wave meets the product surface. To extrapolate the required level information, the instrument measures the time between emission and reception, which is proportional to the distance.

The VF05 TDR probe is a cost-effective, practical solution to a wide range of level monitoring and control applications; as a result, Hycontrol engineers highly recommend it.
